Amid a wave of major upsets at the 2026 French Open, Mirra Andreeva has produced an impressive campaign in Paris to reach her maiden Grand Slam final. Among the tournament’s biggest casualties was world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, who has put her own disappointment aside to show support for Andreeva ahead of the title clash.
How Aryna Sabalenka Reacted to Mirra Andreeva’s French Open Final Run
During her stellar campaign, No. 8 seed Andreeva triumphed over Fiona Ferro, Marina Bassols Ribera, No. 27 seed Marie Bouzková, and Jil Teichmann to reach the quarterfinals of the French Open. She then halted No. 18 seed Sorana Cîrstea’s strong run with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 victory, setting up a blockbuster semifinal clash with No. 15 seed Marta Kostyuk.
Having lost to Kostyuk in the Madrid Open final just weeks earlier, Andreeva avenged the defeat by dominating the highly anticipated encounter, cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 triumph in just 76 minutes. With the win, the 19-year-old snapped Kostyuk’s 17-match winning streak and booked her spot in the final.
Andreeva could have potentially faced Aryna Sabalenka in the final of the clay-court Major, but the world No. 1 suffered an unexpected 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 loss to No. 25 seed Diana Shnaider in the quarterfinals.
Despite her heartbreak over missing out on the chance to finally win her maiden Roland Garros title, Sabalenka cheered on Andreeva with a heartfelt message after her semifinal win.
“Let’s go ,” Sabalenka posted.

Andreeva also received messages of support from actress Lily Collins and former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka.

Aryna Sabalenka’s Comment on Mirra Andreeva’s Instagram Post
Andreeva is set to lock horns with qualifier Maja Chwalińska in the much-awaited French Open final. During her post-match press conference, the Russian said she was unfamiliar with Chwalińska’s game but expected a “very entertaining” contest in their first tour-level encounter.
“She’s been playing amazing three weeks for her, because she passed through qualies. She’s been playing unbelievable. I don’t really know how she plays. I don’t really know her game style. We’ll just try to prepare for the final the best we can. It’s going to be very entertaining, very interesting, as well, because obviously I have never played against her. It’s going to be a new match for both of us,” Andreeva said.

Although Mirra Andreeva has little knowledge of Chwalińska’s playing style, her coach, Conchita Martinez, has done her homework on the Pole. Martinez was spotted in the stands during Chwalińska’s 7-6(4), 6-4 win over Diana Shnaider in the semifinals, gathering insights ahead of the final.
