Arteta aiming to take Arsenal to the next level after title success
Mikel Arteta says he wants to be more ambitious with Arsenal after finally achieving Premier League glory last season.
The Gunners face off against Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City in the Community Shield for the chance to win a first piece of silverware of the season.
With nine clubs changing managers over the summer and three new clubs entering the division, Arteta is now the longest serving manager in the Premier League.
The 44-year-old says his side’s consistency has been the driving force behind their previous success, but is now targeting more after securing that illustrious league title.
“Every club would have their strengths,” Arteta said. “Some because they have won a lot in the last ten years, some because of the squad, some because of the money that they’ve spent.

“We know ours, and ours is related to what we’ve been producing for the last four or five years in a really consistent way, but as well the way that we can be better, and that’s what we are focussing on.
“Sustain that consistency, and you call it stability I think, but I don’t want to be stable, I want to be better and more ambitious, that’s what we want.”
The Spaniard also believes he must continue increasing the level of quality in his side if they are to remain at the very top of English football.
“Well, with a few managers as well and some new ones coming to the league that are exceptional as well. So, we know. I think this league is full of incredible managers, so challenging every week to prepare games against them.
“So, that will elevate our level, my level for sure, and try to be better.”
