Arsenal and Andrea Berta begin talks over huge summer signing – latest transfer news
Arsenal have reportedly opened talks over the summer signing of Spain winger Nico Williams.
The Guardian say Arsenal’s new sporting director Andrea Berta has held talks with Williams’ agent over a summer move for the 22-year-old.
The Gunners are said to have pursued a move for the Spaniard last summer before being informed he wished to stay at Athletic Club.
Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also believed to be in the race for the winger, however, with his release clause thought to be set at €58m.
Williams was a key part of the Spain team which won Euro 2024 and has netted nine times in all competitions for his club this season.
The report also adds that Swedish duo Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak are among Arsenal’s summer targets as they look to strengthen in attack.
Martin Zubimendi also looks set to join the club from Real Sociedad this summer, with Thomas Partey and Jorginho looking likely to leave when their contracts end.
The Independent, meanwhile, say Chelsea and Liverpool are both set to compete with Real Madrid for the signing of Bournemouth central defender Dean Huijsen.
The 19-year-old has impressed in his debut season for the Cherries and recently made his debut for Spain.
He is said to have a release clause of £50m in his contract with Bournemouth.
The report says Chelsea are believed to have currently made more progress in a deal than Liverpool but that Huijsen’s future is seen as very much up in the air.
Elsewhere, Foot Mercato say Mo Salah is set to sign a new contract with Liverpool amid interest from Saudi Arabia.
Gazzetta Dello Sport are reporting that Italian giants Juventus have made Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali a top target, who is valued at £70m.
And L’Equipe in France claim Arsenal, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest are interested in Algeria striker Mohamed Amoura, 24, who is currently on loan at Wolfsburg from Union St-Gilloise.
