Arsenal ‘throw in the towel’ for Vinícius Jr.


Premier League giants Arsenal have all but given up on their summer pursuit of Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. This comes with the Gunners having faced up to the reality that the Brazilian will in the end almost certainly renew his contract terms in Spain’s capital.


Vinícius’ future, of course, remains something of a touchy subject in Spain’s capital at present…


Despite long-term efforts to tie him down to a new contract, the 26-year-old is due to see his current terms expire in just 12 months’ time.


Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, in turn, have expressed a keen interest in taking advantage of the situation, courtesy of a proposal of their own to Vinícius and his entourage.


As alluded to above, however, almost as quickly as the English champions’ ‘Viní’ dreams were confirmed, they have been all but put to bed.


As per a report from Marca:


‘According to sources close to Arsenal, the London club are clear that there’s no chance. “He’s going to renew,” is the phrase coming from the Gunners’ offices. It’s safe to say they’ve thrown in the towel on signing the Brazilian.’
