Like it or not, the NFL combine can make or break a college prospect.

Just ask John Ross, who the Cincinnati Bengals selected ninth overall in 2017 largely because of his 4.22 40-yard dash time. Or Anquan Boldin, the former Florida State star and eventual NFL legend who slid to the second round because of his poor athletic scores.

Mike Washington Jr. seems to be well aware of the stakes at play in Indianapolis. So when the former Arkansas running back recorded a blazing 4.33 40-yard dash time, he couldn't help but burst into tears. It was an inspiring moment that served as a reminder football is more than just a game; it's an opportunity for generational wealth.

.@RazorbackFB RB Mike Washington Jr. got emotional after running an incredible 4.33u.

These guys work so hard for this moment. @StaceyDales

Washington has more than just straight-line speed. He has impressive size at 6-foot-2, 223 pounds, and at the combine ranked second among running backs in both the vertical jump (39") and broad jump (10'8").

After spending time at Buffalo and New Mexico State, Washington had his best season yet with Arkansas in 2025, registering career highs in single-season rushing yards (1,070), receptions (28) and receiving yards (226) while tying his career high with nine touchdowns.

If Washington is getting emotional over his 40-yard dash time, just imagine how special the moment will be when an NFL team drafts him.
