Rays at Diamondbacks, 6:40 p.m., Cox, Ch. 34

Diamondbacks RHP Corbin Burnes (0-1, 4.64) vs. Rays RHP Drew Rasmussen (1-1, 0.87).

At Chase Field:
Burnes, still seeking his first win with Arizona, is set to make his second home start and fifth overall this season. In his last start on April 18 in Chicago, Burnes got a no-decision with two earned runs allowed in six innings. He will make his fourth career start against the Rays and is 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA in the three previous starts, which have all been quality starts of six or more innings with three or fewer earned runs allowed. ... Rasmussen and Burnes go back to when they were Milwaukee Brewers teammates, and once combined to throw a shutout together with a third pitcher. Rasmussen credited Burnes with leading him to a sports psychologist, and also appreciates Burnes for all of the advice and encouragement he had for Rasmussen when they were teammates. ... Rasmussen has not allowed a home run in 62 innings dating back to May of 2023, which is the longest active streak in the major leagues. "A little bit of luck, I think that can't be understated," he said on April 23. Rasmussen is set to face Arizona for the second time in his career and pitched two scoreless innings against Arizona on Aug. 18, 2024.
