The saga is over.
After a contract holdout that lasted over three months, the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a new deal with quarterback Jacoby Brissett, according to multiple reports.
Brissett’s new deal does not include any additional years, meaning he is still set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026 season. But it represents a significant pay bump, as he now has $15.5 million in guaranteed money, with additional incentives that could push his earnings over $20 million, according to reports.
Previously, Brissett had a base salary of $4.9 million and a prorated signing bonus of $1.8 million. His cap hit was $9.2 million. Because unused salary cap space carries over from season to season, any additional cap hit that the Cardinals incur on Brissett’s new deal will cut into the money that they have available next offseason.
Still, the conclusion of this saga offers benefits for the Cardinals.
On the first two full days of training camp, Brissett did not participate in full team drills with the rest of the team. Now, he should be able to join the rest of the offense, gaining critical reps as head coach Mike LaFleur builds out his offense.
