The Arizona Cardinals used their first-round pick on Thursday to select Ole Miss defensive lineman Walter Nolen, drafting him 16th overall. It adds talent to an already deep defensive line room.

Now they are ready for Day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft, and they, barring any trades have one selection each in the second and third rounds of the draft.

Who might they add?

Draft Wire managing editor Jeff Risdon released Day 2 mock draft, covering both the second and third rounds.

He projects the Cardinals will add another two defensive players on Day 2.

Arizona Cardinals Day 2 mock draft results

  • Round 2, No. 47 overall: Notre Dame CB Benjamin Morrison
  • Round 3, No. 78 overall: South Carolina EDGE Kyle Kennard

Analysis

Morrison makes sense thinking long-term. He is a high-end talent as a defensive back but is coming off a hip injury. It is not unlike when the Cardinals selected Garrett Williams in the third round in 2023. The Cardinals have good depth at cornerback currently. Morrison also has a local connection. He played high school ball at Phoenix Brophy and his father, a former NFL player, is a team chaplain for the Cardinals.

However, selecting Morrison would mean passing on Boston College EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku, who goes with the very next pick. Ezeiruaku had 16.5 sacks last season for Boston College and his athletic testing was impressive as well.

But they address the pass rush by adding Kennard in Round 3, which makes sense. He led the SEC with 11.5 sacks last season. he has the requisite size and athleticism, so he would make a solid addition in Round 3, when the players taken behind him aren't anyone Cardinals fans would covet.

Day 2 of the draft begins Friday at 4 p.m. Arizona time.
