MUNICH, GERMANY - APRIL 15: Michael Olise of FC Bayern Munich warms up prior to the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Quarter-Final Second Leg match between FC Bayern München and Real Madrid CF at Football Arena Munich on April 15, 2026 in Munich, Germany. For Bayern Munich fans, there are few transfer rumors more unsettling than those involving Michael Olise. The French winger has quickly become one of the club’s most important players, and recent speculation has only added fuel to the fire.
One development that caught the attention of supporters was Olise reportedly scrubbing his Instagram account of photos. This could be a personal thing as he wiped away all photos, not just those connected to Bayern Munich, but this has become a new age way for players to let it be known they want to leave a club. Heck, maybe it is as innocuous as he is getting off of social media for the World Cup or that he broke up with his girlfriend, but — either way — the timing was curious. Social media moves like this can often end up meaning far less than fans fear, but it is the kind of move that inevitably sparks concern when one of Europe’s biggest clubs is linked to a player.
The biggest threat is not necessarily the Instagram activity itself. It is the reality of who might come calling. If clubs like Real Madrid or Manchester City decide Olise is a priority target as has been rumored, they possess financial resources that very few teams can match. Bayern Munich might find it difficult to ignore an offer in the neighborhood of €200 million, especially if the player expresses an interest in making a move.
Then there is the salary factor. Bayern Munich remains one of the biggest clubs in the world and pays its stars accordingly, but both Real Madrid and Manchester City have the ability to put together compensation packages exceeding €30 million per season. For any player, that kind of financial commitment is difficult to dismiss.
At the same time, there are reasons for Bayern Munich supporters to remain confident. Olise is already playing for one of world football’s elite clubs. He is a centerpiece of the attack, competes annually for Bundesliga titles, and has a legitimate chance to challenge for the Champions League every season. Unlike many transfer sagas, this would not be a case of a player needing to leave a smaller club to reach the next level.
Ultimately, the concern is understandable, but panic may be premature. Bayern Munich is not a selling club, and Olise has every opportunity to become one of the faces of the franchise for years to come. Still, when Real Madrid and Manchester City are involved, no fan can completely dismiss the possibility of a blockbuster move.
So, are you worried about Real Madrid or Manchester City convincing Michael Olise to leave Bayern Munich?
