The Diamondbacks were 6-9 in June, going into their series finale against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, June 17, at Chase Field.
They've been shut out four times since June 3, including Tuesday night's 7-0 loss to the Angels.
By most accounts, the Diamondbacks are in a rut of inconsistency, and manager Torey Lovullo spoke about it prior to Wednesday's game, after being asked how he decides when to say something to the team about getting it together.
"I think I pick times to say things to certain guys and challenge them as a group. I do a lot of that one-on-one or maybe in small groups," Lovullo said. "There have been times where I'll get in front of them and tell them what's on my mind and say that certain things are unacceptable, we've got to tighten it up.
"It's just a feel thing. kind of like my golden ticket. I can't use it every day. I want to kick and scream when something doesn't go right; we're all the same, we're all very emotional when we lose a game. ... I can't be emotional and say the things I want to say every single day. So I pick my spots very strategically as to when I say something to the team."

Diamondbacks LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (5-2, 2.55) vs. Angels LHP Sam Aldegheri (2-1, 2.12).
At Chase Field: Rodriguez had pitched at least five innings in every start but one, when he got through 4 2/3 innings. Then his most recent start was a dud, as Rodriguez couldn't make it out of the third inning at Cincinnati on Friday, June 12. ... The bullpen was forced into action as Rodriguez walked the bases loaded in the first inning and issued two more walks before departing four batters into the third. ... The Diamondbacks hope that start was just a hiccup, and that Rodriguez can get right back to the form that has him as one of manager Torey Lovullo's All-Star candidates. ... Aldegheri, a native of Italy, is 3-5 over parts of three seasons in the major leagues. He's made seven career starts and 12 appearances in the majors for the Angels. The Angels have made seven moves involving Aldegheri this season alone, shuttling him between the bigs and Triple-A Salt Lake.
Thursday, June 18: Off.
Friday, June 19: At Chase Field, 6:40 p.m., Diamondbacks RHP Michael Soroka (8-3, 3.11) vs. Twins LHP Connor Prielipp (2-4, 5.26).
