Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout is one of the greatest players ever despite suffering multiple injuries. However, the three-time AL MVP’s health has prevented him from reaching the top of the mountain.
Trout played just 36 games in 2021 due to a left calf strain, 82 games in 2023 because of a hand injury, and 29 games last season due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. The 11-time All-Star played full seasons from 2012-20, but has struggled to stay on the field since. The only exception was 2022, when he played 119 contests.
Now, Trout is down once again with a knee injury, via Angels PR.

“Angels transactions:
•Recalled INF Niko Kavadas from Triple-A Salt Lake
•Placed OF Mike Trout (left knee contusion) on 10-day injured list (retro to May 1),” the team announced.
Kavadas slashed .183/.283/.333 with four homers and eight RBI in 30 games for Los Angeles last season. The 26-year-old sports a career .250 average with 74 homers, 248 RBI, and a .901 OPS in 1,221 minor-league at-bats.
Meanwhile, Trout is slashing just .179/.264/.462 this season, but is tied for second in baseball with nine homers and leads the team with 18 RBI.
The Angels (12-18) are last place in the AL West and are six games behind the first-place Seattle Mariners. They’re also just 2-8 in their last 10 games and have lost six straight.
Los Angeles will play three more contests vs. the Detroit Tigers before hosting the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles.
