Angels’ John Mozeliak confirms what fans expected to hear about Mike Trout trade appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
While Mike Trout has been mentioned in trade rumors over the years, the idea of the Los Angeles Angels trading him still seems unrealistic. Trout is the face of the franchise and he also has a no-trade clause. So when Trout wasn’t moved before Monday’s MLB trade deadline, it was not especially surprising. After the deadline, Angels interim general manager John Mozeliak confirmed that Trout was not involved in any trade discussions.
“John Mozeliak said he invited Mike Trout into the Angels’ war room to observe trade talks,” Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reported. “As Mozeliak had said a month ago, there were no talks about a Trout trade.”
The Angels have struggled and did make a number of rebuilding moves on Monday. Trading Trout was not included among those moves. Trout is loyal to the team and the Angels are loyal to him. They only have one postseason appearance together, but Trout is a fan-favorite in Anaheim regardless.

The 34-year-old outfielder earned the 12th All-Star selection of his MLB career this season. He is not producing at the same MVP-caliber level like he once did, but Trout has performed well nonetheless. The veteran slugger is currently hitting .245/.391/.454 to go along with 18 home runs. He is still an impactful player at the big league level.
It seems like Mike Trout may end up spending his entire career with the Angels unless he surprisingly requests a trade in the future. He seems to be content in Anaheim for now, however.
