WACO, Texas (FOX 44) — The rain went away the second-time around with the fifth-annual Andrew Billings football camp going off without a hitch on Thursday evening!

Bad weather conditions cancelled the initial camp date of Saturday, June 6th but Billings wouldn’t let his campers down. The Waco High and Baylor alumni flew out to Arizona Cardinals camp and flew back to complete the kids camp at a rescheduled date.

“A lot of kids showed up the first time we tried it and they said they’ll come back,” Billings said. “They were here today so I had to be here too!”

Billings, an eight-year veteran in the NFL, continued his annual tradition welcoming in around 150 campers inside Waco ISD Stadium’s gates to have a fun night of football. Even both sides of the Waco ISD rivalry with University and Waco High players and coaches helped put on the event for the youth campers!

“No matter where you’re from, come on over here and have fun. That’s what it’s all about it,” Billings said.

Serving as a role model for kids that are in Billings’ old shoes, whether in the red and white, green and gold or the many threads he’s worn in his NFL career.

“I let them know it’s not easy to get to the professional level,” Billings said. “It takes a lot more than just the sport side. It took a lot in school, college, you know, just to get where I’m at.”
