One of the biggest storylines for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2026 is what will happen with their four-player quarterback room — and one analyst has an interesting solution to the problem.
When discussing the future of Pittsburgh's signal-callers, Joe Starkey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review revealed an answer to the Steelers' four-man quarterback conundrum: inventing an injury.
“I suppose the Steelers could invent an injury for somebody and put them on IR, or try to pass Howard through waivers and onto the practice squad. We’ll see,” Starkey wrote.
Whether that's Will Howard, Mason Rudolph, or Drew Allar, a phantom injury would allow the Steelers to stash one of their talented signal-callers on injured reserve, but at the cost of sidelining him for at least four games.
Still, it seems more feasible that the Steelers would part ways with one of their quarterbacks, specifically Howard or Rudolph, following an exciting training camp battle. But Starkey's comments definitely give Steelers fans something to mull over during the next few months.
