The Tennessee Titans officially begin training camp this week as they set their sights on improving from their four consecutive losing seasons in 2026. They appear to be set at most of their positions, especially running back, but one media outlet thinks they should rethink that.
The Titans have shown no indication that they intend to move on from starting running back Tony Pollard, but that hasn't stopped outside analysts from floating potential trade scenarios. In a recent article highlighting running backs who should be traded before the 2026 season, Bleacher Report suggested Pollard could be an ideal fit for the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
The proposal argues that Tennessee should lean on its younger prospects at the position while Seattle could benefit from adding an experienced veteran to its backfield. It's an interesting idea, but one the Titans would not likely entertain, at least in the first half of the season.
There's no denying the Titans are building for the future, but rebuilding doesn't necessarily mean moving every veteran contributor. Pollard has consistently produced throughout his career, remained durable, and continues to offer value as both a runner and receiver. His leadership could also prove invaluable as younger players like rookie RB Nicholas Singleton develop.
Quite frankly, the Titans don't have to choose between youth and experience. Tyjae Spears has had every opportunity to cut into Pollard's workload the last two seasons, but hasn't due to injuries and production. He now enters the last season of his rookie contract with the 2025 fifth-round pick, Singleton, looking to take his position.
Both Spears' and Singleton's potential could make Tennessee's backfield one of its deepest it's had in years, while allowing each player to contribute in a role that best suits their strengths. However, Pollard is the most accomplished one and should remain in that starting position unless the Titans have another season that goes south.
Bleacher Report's proposal is certainly thought-provoking due to Pollard's age (29) and expiring contract. But for now, the benefits of keeping Pollard in Nashville appear to outweigh the potential return from sending him somewhere else.
