Amarillo High track & field athlete Ava Rahlfs has been voted the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week for March 31-April 5.

Rahlfs placed first in the shot put at the District 3-5A track meet with a throw of 40 feet, eight inches, beating the second place finisher's throw by two feet. Rahlfs also placed third in discus.

Rahlfs received 7,789 of the 12,023 votes cast, which was 64.78% of total votes.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible and can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. each Saturday and can be submitted through email at [email protected].

Please include statistics from the week's games and any pertinent information or honors. Voting runs through Thursday each week.
