Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas has been suspended one game and received a Flagrant Foul 2 for “recklessly making contact with her fist to the throat area” of Caitlin Clark, the league announced Thursday.

The incident, which was deemed a “non-basketball act,” happened about halfway through the second quarter of Wednesday night’s 111-109 Fever win. Clark was on the ground after going for a ball, and Thomas appeared to push off Clark’s throat as she stood up. Clark later exited the game in the second half with a back injury.
