It’s very possible Alvin Kamara will be wearing a uniform other than the New Orleans Saints’ for the first time in his NFL career.
Since the Saints signed Travis Etienne to a lucrative, long-term deal, the Saints have failed to commit to Kamara being on the roster in 2026.
As the Saints begin OTAs (organized team activities) this week, the message on Kamara, who is not present for the latest voluntary portion of the offseason program, was the same.
“[Head coach Kellen] Moore said there’s no timeline on figuring out the Alvin Kamara situation,” Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported.
Kamara not being at OTAs is nothing new, but the Saints not being willing to say if he’s staying certainly is.
It continues to feel like Kamara’s days with the Saints are numbered.
Kamara, 30, is coming off a down season, but that was hardly all his fault and we can’t simply blame it on decline.
Not only did he deal with injury, but the Saints’ offense was awful for much of the season until Tyler Shough found his footing late in the year.
If New Orleans looks to trade him, Kamara is going to draw plenty of interest.
That said, the Saints are going to do right by him and send Kamara to a contender, so that limits his possible landing spots.
Here are some teams that fit the mold.

Seattle Seahawks
The Super Bowl champions have quite the uncertain situation at running back.
With Kenneth Walker gone, Seattle’s running backs room includes Zach Charbonnet, Jadarian Price, Emanuel Wilson and George Holani.
MORE: Seahawks stuck in contract dispute with key defender
The problem with that foursome is Charbonnet may not be ready for the start of the season because of a torn ACL, Wilson is a career backup and Holani and the rookie Price are unproven.
Kamara would instantly add a starting-caliber back to Seattle’s backfield, and the Seahawks would give the veteran a chance to win a Super Bowl.
Denver Broncos
The Broncos were on the doorstep of a Super Bowl last season, so that’s one reason why we could see Kamara ending up in Denver.
Another reason is his connection with head coach Sean Payton, who oversaw Kamara’s rise to stardom in New Orleans.
MORE: Could Broncos bring back former Super Bowl MVP?
But the Broncos also have a shaky situation at running back, with J.K. Dobbins, who is injury-prone, and RJ Harvey, who has yet to cement himself in the NFL.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Warm weather and a chance to compete for at least the playoffs? We could see Kamara signing up for both of those things.
The Jaguars went 13-4 last season and have high expectations in 2026 as a result.
They also have a questionable running back situation following the departure of Etienne to the Saints.
MORE: Jaguars rookie abruptly retires, highlighting bizarre trend
For a contender like Jacksonville, depending on a shaky and unproven duo of Chris Rodriguez and second-year back Bhayshul Tuten is a risky proposition.
Kamara might be the best option the Jags have to remedy the situation.
Washington Commanders
After a disappointing season in which the Commanders went 5-12, they don’t fit the mold of a contender.
However, lest we forget, the Commanders made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game in 2024.
Knowing that, it’s not crazy to think Washington could get back there again in 2026 if Jayden Daniels can stay on the field.
Washington has one of the most questionable running back situations in the NFL with Jacory Croskey-Merritt and backups Rachaad White and Jerome Ford filling out the depth chart.
An established veteran like Kamara would be a welcomed addition in Washington.
