Multiple sources are reporting that Coach Gainey is adding Alvin Brooks III to his coaching staff. That is his second SEC assistant hired.

Brooks III spent the last 2 seasons as the Associate HC of the Wildcats. Prior to Kentucky, spent 8 years as the Associate HC at Baylor.

Brooks has been a D1 assistant coach since 2007. and has worked at Bradley for Jim Lee, at Sam Houston State for Jason Hooten, at Kansas State for Bruce Weber, he was at Baylor for eight seasons working for Scott Drew as both an assistant, lead recruiter, and Associate Head Coach. Baylor won two regular season titles and the 2021 NCAA Tournament during his tenure. He most recently worked for Mark Pope at Kentucky as his Associate Head Coach. Brooks was recently released by Kentucky.

Kentucky went 22-14 this season and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. There are 7 announced Kentucky players in the portal, so far.

According to his UK bio, “Brooks had a hand in nearly every facet of UK’s success as he was involved in recruiting, defensive schemes, scouting and was a key in the development of UK’s forwards.”

Until earlier this year, his dad, Alvin Brooks II was the head coach at Lamar.
