In sports, some players are overpaid and some are underpaid. That’s just the way it is.

When it comes to the Philadelphia Eagles, it just so happens that their most underpaid player also happens to be one of their best players.

Cooper DeJean named Eagles' most underpaid player

All-Pro cornerback Cooper DeJean was recently named Philadelphia’s most underpaid player by Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report.

DeJean, who was named First-team All Pro after the 2025 season, is entering the third year of the 4-year, $9.28 million rookie contract he signed with the Eagles in 2024.

From Gagnon:

“The team's top two draft picks from 2024—Quinyon Mitchell and DeJean—have both become stars in the Philadelphia secondary. Mitchell is the higher pick and was probably a slightly more impactful player in 2025, but he'll cost the organization $4.0 million in '26 compared to just $2.5 million for DeJean."

While DeJean might be Philly’s most underpaid player for the ’26 season, that won’t be the case for long. DeJean will be eligible for an extension – and a raise – next offseason, and he’s virtually guaranteed to get one from the Eagles given the productive play that he’s turned in over his first two seasons in the league.

During his first two years, DeJean tallied 143 combined tackles, 16 passes defended, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumble and 1 QB hit.

When DeJean does ultimately put pen to paper on an extension, he’ll be very well compensated. In the meantime though, he’ll continue to be one of the best bargains in the NFL.
