To no surprise, the best teams on Earth remain in the 2026 World Cup.

The field has been shrunken down all the way to single digits, with eight teams still in the field as the quarterfinals begin on Thursday, July 9. It's no surprise some the favorites remain, including defending champion Lionel Messi and Argentina, as well the 2018 winner in France with Kylian Mbappé.

When looking at who is still alive and the FIFA rankings, it makes sense considering six of the eight quarterfinalists are in the top 10. So where do all eight teams rank as they try to get three more victories to become World Cup champions?
