Alexander Rossi, Pato O'Ward involved in big Indy 500 practice crash

The first wreck of the 2026 Indianapolis 500 process has occurred. On Monday, Alexander Rossi, Pato O'Ward, and Romain Grosjean were involved in a major wreck coming off Turn 2 in practice. The No. 20 car spun in Turn 2, slamming the wall before the other two drivers were involved.

It was a massive hit for Rossi, who qualified in second place for the 2026 Indianapolis 500. O'Ward qualified in sixth place, while Grosjean was in 24th place. All three drivers were able to exit their cars and walk to the ambulances. Thankfully, the wreck didn't turn out worse than initially feared.

O'Ward spun, trying to avoid Rossi, and piled into the No. 20 car. Grosjean exited with the least amount of damage, but Rossi and O'Ward will likely need to go to backup cars with very limited track time remaining before Sunday.
