Is Alex Pereira at odds with the UFC? That seems to be the case.
On Wednesday, the former two-division champion shared a cryptic social media post suggesting there's tension between him and the UFC brass. While Pereira didn't specify the exact nature of the situation, his tweet had a clear tone of unhappiness and suggested he could be pushed into early retirement.
"I’ve never spoken poorly of the UFC but with what I’ve just heard I’m disheartened," Pereira wrote on X. "I’ve already had thoughts of not fighting anymore, and after what was just relayed to me this may be the start."
Pereira, 37, has stepped up for the UFC and saved multiple pay-per-view events on short notice, including headlining the milestone UFC 300 in April 2024. He most recently lost the light heavyweight championship to Magomed Ankalaev on March 8 at UFC 313.
All signs have pointed to an immediate rematch happening perhaps as soon as UFC 317 on June 28, but perhaps Pereira's tweet is a sign that other plans are in play.

I always answered the UFC’s calls, but if they want to play with me, we can do that. I’ve never spoken poorly of the UFC but with what I’ve just heard I’m disheartened. I’ve already had thoughts of not fighting anymore, and after what was just relayed to me this may be the start.
