Alex Palou has been penalized following the 2026 Indianapolis. Palou and the No. 10 team for Chip Ganassi Racing were docked five points and fined $10,000 after an unintentional modification when assembling the front wing, the sport announced. It violated the rule that says the front wing can't measure less than 8.3 inches when set at any angle.

Palou, who finished seventh in the 2026 Indianapolis 500, saw his lead shrink from 42 to 37 points in the championship over Team Penske driver David Malukas. It could have been tighter if Malukas hadn't been passed by Felix Rosenqvist in the final moments of the event.

While Palou wasn't able to defend his 2025 Indianapolis 500 victory, he hoped to win his fifth NTT IndyCar Series championship. Palou has the inside track to win his fifth title, as the driver of the No. 10 car continues to show exceptional speed. Now, Palou hopes to carry that speed into Detroit this weekend.
