Indianapolis Colts receiver Alec Pierce, who played college football for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, said on June 10 that he still faces many weeks of recovery from left ankle surgery he underwent in March, per ESPN's Stephen Holder.

The return timeline could keep Pierce out well into training camp and past the NFL preseason, Holder said.

The Cincinnati Bengals are scheduled to face the Colts in Indianapolis during the 2026 season but not until Week 16.

In March, Pierce agreed to a four-year, $114-million contract extension with Indianapolis. Days earlier, Colts defensive back Sauce Gardner, Pierce's UC teammate from 2019 to 2021, lobbied for the Colts to re-sign Pierce.

Pierce has played his first four NFL seasons for the Colts and had a career-best 47 catches for 1,003 receiving yards in 2025.
