I promise to keep this brief....The Who rank w/in my top favorite bands of all-time and this is my favorite album by them.....

It's interesting though that such a brilliant effort was merely an afterthought since most of this album are remains from The Who (mainly Pete Townshend's) "Lifehouse" project, which had been aborted many times until a couple years ago when Townshend himself attempted to revive everything.....

Here's an interesting link regarding how "Lifehouse" materialized since '71-the present...

All the tracks are exceptional to the extent that I cant really select a favorite....Most know "Baba O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again", and "Behind Blue Eyes" since they've become Classic Rock staples over the years, but all the other songs deserve the same recognition.....Nothing like Townshend's lyrics/guitar playing/innovative use of the synthesizer....Daltrey's dynamic vocals (always is stunning how he conveyed Townshends emotions like they were his own), Entwistle's creative use of the bass guitar (also his rather intriguing composition "My Wife" which showcased his clever/twisted lyrics), and of course the thundering/menacing drumming by Moon....

As I said earlier, I could go on and on about The Who (and this particular album), however, I dont want to subject anyone to further agony inflicted by me! :D
