The lone Alabama Crimson Tide basketball player to enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason that had yet to make a decision as to where they will play during the 2025-26 season, Derrion Reid has now officially done so by announcing a commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners on Monday night.
Reid's commitment to Oklahoma marks the second-straight offseason than an Alabama players has transferred to the Sooners, joining center Mohamed Wague from a year ago.
As a freshman this past season, Reid started 3-of-24 games for the Crimson Tide to average a combined 6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game on 45% shooting from the field, as well as 26.3% from three. Reid, who also missed a number of games in SEC play due to injury, also shot 57.9% from the free throw line.
Prior to Alabama, Reid was the headline name from the Crimson Tide's 2024 recruiting class, rated as a five-star prospect out of Prolific Prep in California. According to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, Reid was ranked as the No. 10 overall player in the class, and is also the second-highest rated recruit in Alabama program history behind only Collin Sexton.
