...outside of a 3 for 46 stint from April 17th to May 1st. He's 55/239 (a .230 average) on the season. If you were to back out that 15 game run where we was 3 for 46, he's 52/193 for a .285 average.

They call it an average for a reason. If you remove the last 3 weeks from Paul, he is hitting .245. So, is he the current .300 he is or the .245 he was for a lot the season?

Ahmed has 236 ABs, that period you want to eliminate is 46 ABs or just under 1 out of 5 of his total ABs where he hit .065(!).

Since May 1st he is hitting .253 in 150 ABs, but to add those ABs to his ABs before April 17th is meaningless.

This really is an abuse of statistics. The kind you'd hear from a homer announcer who doesn't understand stats.

The thread is entitled, "Ahmed is batting .285 on the season."

It is now July and his On Base % isn't even that. He is batting .230 with OBP of .275 and it took a hot spell to get his BAVG out of the .100's.

Nick Ahmed is not a hitter. When Owings is healthy, I don't see how anyone could justify playing Ahmed over him at SS. Despite his stellar fielding, so are that of Owings and Segura at SS. Ahmed is the third best overall SS on our team.

All true. I'm ok with him if he can get it over 230 and keep it their.
