Harry Higgs may not have a shirt on by day's end if this keeps up.

The long-time pro, who has made five of nine cuts this season on the Korn Ferry Tour, was the last player in the field this week for the 2026 U.S. Open, but he's making a move at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York. This despite showing up for the first round in shorts.

He shot 1-over 71 on Thursday to begin, but Friday he began making his charge. And his second shot on the par-3 11th may be one of, if not, the best of the tournament.

Higgs went long of the green, pretty much dead on the 11th hole, but not for Higgs. He whipped out his putter from 75 feet away, gave it a smack and a few seconds later it curled in the cup for a birdie.

The 2 moved him to 4 under for the day and 3 under for the tournament, good for T-2 and four shots behind leader Wyndham Clark.

For a player who has missed every PGA Tour start this year while trying to earn his card back, this performance is somewhat out of nowhere. Now, the 34-year-old is feeling it and hoping to close strong heading into the weekend.

If this style of play continues, Joel Dahmen is going to have to fly in for the weekend so they can have a proper celebration with tarps off.
