With a point secured in their opening match against Zambia (1-1), Mali cannot clinch direct qualification for the round of 16 of AFCON 2025 as early as this Friday, but they can put themselves in a strong position under certain circumstances.
Group A standings:

2- Mali 1 pt (0)
3- Zambia 1 pt (0)
4- Comoros 0 pts (-2)
Frustrated by the Chipolopolo, who snatched a late equalizer (1-1), the Eagles of Mali will be aiming for their first victory — one that could open the door to the round of 16.

If they win, Mali will have four points and will be guaranteed at least third place, provided Zambia defeats Comoros. That would be a strong position heading into their final group match.
