Aces' A'ja Wilson closes in on history that might end up being unbreakable with latest honor originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
A'ja Wilson on Tuesday was named the WNBA's Western Conference Player of the Week.
Between June 8 and June 14, Wilson led the Las Vegas Aces to three consecutive wins and scored at least 30 points twice. Even by Wilson's sky-high standards, that's impressive stuff.
But what this Player of the Week honor means in the wider context is that Wilson -- already the league's only four-time MVP -- is inching closer to another record.

With her 30th Western Conference Player of the Week nod, Wilson trails only Tina Charles for the most Player of the Week distinctions in league history.
Wilson, 29, already has the Western Conference record for Player of the Week wins. Her 30th victory took her four clear of the legendary Candace Parker -- her former Aces teammate -- who won 26 such awards in her career.
That's our 4x M'VP right there

In addition to her MVP and Player of the Week awards, Wilson is:
- a seven-time All-Star
- a six-time All-WNBA selection
- a five-time All-Defense selection
- a three-time WNBA champion
- a two-time Olympic gold medalist
- a two-time WNBA scoring champion
- a two-time WNBA Finals MVP
It seems just a matter of time before she has Charles' record for herself, and further distances herself among the greatest players not just in WNBA history, but in all of professional basketball.
