After making a 25-win improvement from a season ago, the Charlotte Hornets are eager to make upgrades this summer, giving them a chance for a playoff berth for the first time since the 2015-16 season. As a result, they've been linked to adding frontcourt depth at center to complement an impressive big three including Brandon Miller, Kon Knueppel and LaMelo Ball.

Although NBA insiders have recently linked the Hornets to Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis, Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report had another idea. Hughes put together a list of top-five trade packages and landing spots for former NBA champion Anthony Davis, and Charlotte was shockingly ranked second. In the proposed deal, the Hornets would send Grant Williams, Josh Green, Miles Bridges and the No. 14 overall selection to the Washington Wizards in return for Davis.

Considering NBA insiders have suggested that the Hornets are keen on holding on to their first-round picks, this proposal misses the mark. Not to mention, proposed deals to Sacramento could see Charlotte land the aforementioned Sabonis for much less. Lastly, acquiring Davis would put more money on the books for Charlotte, considering the 10-time All-Star has a $62.7 million option for the 2027-28 season. On the other hand, the contracts of Williams, Bridges and Green are set to expire following the 2026-27 campaign.
