The Washington Commanders defeated the New York Giants, 29-21, handing Big Blue their eighth straight loss and dropping them to an NFL-worst 2-12 record.
Washington built a 19-7 halftime lead behind a 63-yard punt return touchdown by Jaylin Lane, a 16-yard rushing score by Jacory Croskey-Merritt, and three field goals from Jake Moody. A 51-yard touchdown pass from Marcus Mariota to Terry McLaurin in the fourth quarter sealed the victory.
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart kept the Giants competitive, throwing for 246 yards and two touchdowns (18 yards to Tyrone Tracy Jr. and 16 yards to Wan'Dale Robinson) while adding a 29-yard scramble.
However, self-inflicted wounds -- missed field goals, Darius Slayton's dropped touchdowns, an interception, and penalties -- doomed New York's late comeback attempt despite outgaining Washington 384-340 in total yards.
