Much was made of what appeared to be a rift between New York Giants stars Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart, after Dart introduced United States President Donald Trump at an event in New York and Carter appeared to take exception.

On Friday, Carter explained to reporters that he and Dart talked through things, and also broke down why he felt it was necessary to hold the young quarterback to account.

“Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things. Jaxson is one of our leaders – he’s the face of our franchise. He represents himself and what he does, and he represents all of us. If he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility, based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I’m against that, but to show the world.

Abdul Carter says he will only address Jaxson Dart introducing Donald Trump one time:

“That doesn’t mean that we have to spread hate. That doesn’t mean that me and Jaxson hate each other or we have beef. I sit next to Jaxson every day – we’re close, we talk. As long as we make sure we have the same goal as a team, and our goals align – which they do -that’s all that matter. I just want to move past this.”

Carter’s mature reaction to the situation garnered praise on social media.

“So damn proud of Abdul Carter,” Majority FM cohost Emma Vigeland wrote on X.

“This a great, professional statement by Abdul Carter man,” someone else added.

With leadership like Carter’s in the locker room, the Giants seem on track to have a great season.
