A Klassiker full of twists sends Bayern clear at the top
Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 away in Bundesliga to move 11 point clear at the top of the table.
Bayern win dramatic Klassiker in dortmund
Bayern Munich claimed thrilling 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday in matchday 24 of Bundesliga.
The win extended Bayern’s lead over second-placed Dortmund to 11 point. The league leaders now have 63 point while Dortmund remain on 52 leaving Bayern very close to securing another German league title.
Referee decision sparks early debate
The match started with high intensity and early controversy. In the 20th minute, Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck made a strong challenge on Bayern’s Josip Stanisic.
Bayern players and head coach Vincent Kompany demanded red card, but the referee showed only a yellow card, a decision that caused clear frustration on the Bayern bench.
Just six minute later, Schlotterbeck put Dortmund ahead with header from a set piece scoring in the 26 minute to give the hosts the lead.
Harry Kane turns the game around
Bayern responded after the break through Harry Kane who equalised in the 54 minute after smart headed assist from Serge Gnabry.
Kane struck again in the 70 minute converting a penalty after another foul by Schlotterbeck inside the box. The goal gave Bayern control of the match and underlined Kane’s importance in big moments.
Late drama decides the Klassiker
Dortmund refused to give up and found an equaliser in the 83 minute through Swedish forward Daniel Svensson.
But Bayern were not done. In the 87 minute, Joshua Kimmich scored the winning goal with a powerful strike sealing dramatic away win for the Bavarians.
With this result Bayern Munich have taken strong step toward another Bundesliga crown.
