Will New England Patriots star A.J. Brown be an elite route-running wide receiver for the team in 2026?

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Brown’s efficacy as a route-runner from the 2025 NFL season, based on his ability to get open, catch the ball, and run after the catch, places him among the best at the position.

“Of the 110 wide receivers evaluated last season, Brown was ranked in the top 16 in all three categories, joining the Rams' Puka Nacua as the only other wideout to be ranked that highly across the board,” Reiss said.

Brown recorded a 64.5 percent catch rate last season. He gained 2.14 yards per route run and 3.4 yards after the catch per reception while registering a target separation rate of 1.23 yards per reception.

The Mississippi native is a great deep-ball threat who uses his physicality to make plays in all three phases of the field. He is one of the premier wide receivers in the league, capable of doing it all, which gives the Patriots much to work with for next season as their new leading receiver.
