A.J. Allmendinger is reaching a very important milestone on Sunday. Allmendinger will make his 500th NASCAR Cup Series start when the green flag waves at Sonoma Raceway. The Kaulig Racing driver is from California and believes Sonoma is his home track in NASCAR.
Allmendinger made his first Cup Series start in 2007 with Red Bull Racing at Bristol Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 16 car has raced for several teams, such as Team Penske and JTG Daugherty Racing. Allmendinger's first Cup Series victory came at Watkins Glen International in 2014.
Now, Allmendinger will make his 500th Cup Series start at Sonoma, another road course. The Kaulig Racing driver can win, so a special milestone could come with an outstanding victory. Either way, Allmendinger has become a fixture in the Cup Series, and 500 starts is not easy for any driver.
