A Detroit City FC player made league history Saturday night.

Forward Darren Smith scored five goals as DCFC stormed past Sporting JAX, 6-2, at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The five goals tied the USL Championship regular-season record.

The single-game goal record was set by Mauricio Salles for VSI Tampa Bay on June 8, 2013.

Smith, a second-year DCFC player from South Africa, scored three times in the first half and twice in the second half. He now leads the league with 11 goals and moved into third all-time among DCFC goal scorers.

Here's a look at his highlights from Saturday.
