It’s A’ja Wilson’s big night!
On Wednesday, July 15, Wilson, 29, received the award for Best Athlete, Women’s Sports at the ESPYS, which were held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City.
The other nominees included hockey player Hilary Knight, golfer Nelly Korda and skier Mikaela Shiffrin.
While Wilson was not in attendance to accept the event, presenters Ilona Maher and Karl-Anthony Towns accepted the honor on her behalf. Maher, in particular, was ecstatic for the WNBA player, exclaiming, “I mean, come on! A’ja, come on!”
Wilson is earning the Best Athlete, Women’s Sports title for the second time after her win this evening.
Wilson was nominated in the all-around best athlete category for women’s sports following a history-making year, during which she became the first player in WNBA or NBA history to win the scoring title, league MVP, Finals MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season.
The Aces standout led her team to WNBA championships in 2022, 2023 and 2025. The two-time Olympic gold medalist also won Finals MVP honors in 2023 and 2025.

She brought home both ESPYS for Best Athlete, Women’s Sports and Best WNBA Player in 2024.
Wilson will be back on the court with the Aces on July 20, where the team will face the Toronto Tempo.
