the hardest people to fire are those whose attitude and work ethic are great, are team players, are nice people, etc. -- but just dont have the skills to be successful in their role

Also, the NFL and their fans are spoiled by the quick rise of coaches like McVay and players like Mahomes which for the most part are an anomaly for a such a hard sport with so much to learn to adjust to the speed of the game where nuances are the difference between winning and losing. Kliff Kingsbury might become a damn good coach 10 years from now with more experience, he has been thrown into the fray way too quick for judgement of his legacy

McVay wasn’t an instant success, either. He’s been working in the NFL at a high level for a while before getting the head coaching gig.

Kliff’s rise to NFL head coach was virtually unprecedented and the results probably far exceeded expectations. He wasn’t Jeff Saturday.
