For several seasons now, junior safety Colby McCalister (2) has been a mainstay as a key reserve. But his continued recovery from a late-season ACL tear means he will be unavailable Saturday. • Position: Defensive Tackle

Patrick Tackie (b. June 5, 2005) is an athletic JUCO transfer nose guard by way of Hinds College who had 19 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in his two-year stint with the Bulldogs. He redshirted during the 2025 season.

Tackie, who is majoring in business, played under head coach Larry Williams at Hinds, where he was regarded as the 20th-best overall community college prospect in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports, which also rated him the ninth-best junior college defensive lineman.

He also was viewed as the fourth-best community-college defensive tackle by ESPN.

In addition to his 19 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss, Tackie also forced a fumble and had a pass breakup in Mississippi. He collected a career-high four tackles in 2024 against East Central, which included a 9-yard tackle for loss.

Tackie’s forced fumble came against Pearl River and his pass breakup was against Mississippi Delta.

At A. Philip Randolph Campus High School, he recorded 79 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery over the final two years of his prep career.

Tackie registered at least 10 tackle for loss for the Cougars in each of his last two seasons, including 17.5 as a senior. He earned all-City honors as both an offensive and defensive lineman.

Tackie, who visited during the Cincinnati beatdown in November 2024, was signed to add depth to the nose tackle position but had little chance of breaking through for a starting spot in 2025, given what the Cats had returning there. But now those guys are all departed, leaving him the most “experienced” returning tackle.

Tackie committed to K-State over offers from Jackson State, Louisiana-Monroe, Massachusetts, Morgan State, North Alabama, Temple, Tennessee-Martin and Western Kentucky, as well as in-state interest from Mississippi State and Ole Miss. He is K-State’s first signee from New York since 2011.

Here’s what GoPowercat.com’s Cole Carmody had to say about this versatile player:

Having experience in a four-man front, Tackie could be a swingman who is able to play both in the three- and four-man fronts. Big and fast, Tackie’s ability to rush the passer was evident on film and should be able to translate to the next level. Similar in size and play style to former Wildcat Jaylen Pickle, Tackie could be an immediate contributor.
