The New England Patriots wrapped up Day 6 of training camp practice on Friday with another impressive showing by the offense.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and company won the day through the air, even managing to finally push the ball downfield at points. It was an impressive showing when throwing into the teeth of one of the best secondary units in the NFL.
The ongoing training camp battles between star receiver A.J. Brown and cornerback Christian Gonzalez also continued to heat up on the field. In only two practices in pads, it's clear that the Patriots' offense has taken another step ahead of the 2026 season. Only time will tell how far that takes them.
Here were the eight standouts from Day 6:
It's crazy how quickly things can change. It was only a few days ago that people were worrying themselves over the shaky connection between A.J. Brown and Drake Maye.
And then the pads came on.
Brown has been a force on the football field, particularly in the underneath routes. However, Brown hauled in his first deep touchdown reception over Christian Gonzalez in 11-on-11s on Day 6. The three-time All-Pro wideout connected on 4-of-4 targets from Maye.
Patriots rookie tight end Eli Raridon looks like a legitimate weapon for the team through only six practices. There's a smoothness to his game that is uncommon for such a young player at the NFL level. He had multiple touchdown catches at Friday's practice. His ability to go up and attack the ball should make him a viable threat right out of the gate.
Undrafted rookie Cameron Dorner is considered a long-shot player to make the final roster. However, he popped up multiple times at receiver on Friday. The connection he has built with rookie backup quarterback Behren Morton has been obvious, and it could pave the way for future opportunities for the former North Texas standout.
The Patriots' passing offense might have stolen the show, but the defensive front continued to excel against the run at Friday's practice. Nose tackle Cory Durden has emerged as a chippy, powerhouse enforcer on the defensive line, shutting down gaps and clogging up holes to run. The team should be feeling good about Durden replacing Khyiris Tonga.
Patriots tight end Hunter Henry had one of the best plays of the practice, when he bobbled a ball to himself and secured a touchdown reception. Don't let all of the Eli Raridon love fool you. Henry has remained one of quarterback Drake Maye's favorite receiving targets on the field.
DeMario Douglas looked like a massive headache to defend against in one-on-one situations. However, it didn't stop there. The Patriots' shifty wideout was also targeted in the red zone for a touchdown with Christian Gonzalez in coverage. Maye's ball placement was out of Gonzalez's reach, and Douglas snatched it up for six points.
Patriots seventh-round pick running back Jam Miller had a couple of nice touchdown runs. He has some impressive cutting abilities and a strong feel when running behind tackles. He's got some serious competition with Lan Larison on the roster. Terrell Jennings will also compete for that No. 3 running back role on offense behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson when he returns. But Miller could make a strong case for a worthy change-of-pace option for the Patriots.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was nearly flawless for a second straight practice in pads. He went 12-of-13 passing with his long incompletion being a throwaway attempt that might have been caught for an interception by Christian Gonzalez. Regardless, Maye was on fire throughout the practice with laser precision on tight throws. The third-year quarterback is playing with more confidence and command of the offense than ever before.
