The consensus is the Philadelphia 76ers' trade for Jaylen Brown is a home run.
Brown is an All-NBA wing who recorded 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game on 47.7% shooting in 71 games last season. Not to mention, he is strong on the defensive end of the floor as well.
That alone makes this deal a win for the 76ers.
Philadelphia also managed to solve a major problem in the trade by getting rid of Paul George's ugly $211 million contract. While Brown is also on a sizable deal, his talent and the fact he's in his prime make the money worth it.
The issue is the Sixers did create themselves another problem with the trade for Brown, which is there are too many mouths to feed.
Between Tyrese Maxey, V.J. Edgecombe, Brown, Joel Embiid, and potentially LeBron James, there are only so many shot attempts to go around.
NBA analyst Tim MacMahon believes 76ers coach Nick Nurse is facing an interesting situation now that Brown is in the mix, sharing, "If Embiid’s healthy and on the floor, instead of your turn, my turn, is it your turn, my turn, his turn… Nick Nurse has an interesting situation."
Could this overwhelming amount of star power create chemistry issues and locker room drama? Absolutely, or Brown could have no issues meshing alongside the Sixers' core. Only time will tell.
Part of the responsibility of avoiding a spiraling situation falls on Nurse, who will need to design plays and concepts that run through each core member of Philadelphia's lineup. However, the stars are also obligated to keep their egos in check and understand the ultimate goal is to hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy regardless of how many touches they get in the process.
