The Philadelphia 76ers’ roster will look a bit different next season.

How so? Paul George is no longer a member of the 76ers, as the franchise executed a jaw-dropping trade on Wednesday, sending George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks to the Boston Celtics for Jaylen Brown.

The Celtics were clearly ready to move on from Brown by any means necessary, even if it didn't land them a great return. While acquiring Brown is a significant move that would drastically improve the 76ers’ backcourt, another big move could be on the horizon.

CBS Sports’ Brad Botkin thinks there’s a chance the 76ers could outbid the Golden State Warriors for a Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward following their blockbuster trade.

“For years, the Sixers have been entirely dependent on Embiid staying healthy, and the same will be true for this team in terms of competing for a championship,” Botkin wrote Thursday. “But Brown gives them more leeway in the regular season, and LeBron would do more of the same.”

“Plus, it's not like LeBron wouldn't have to cross his fingers on the health front if he were to sign with the Warriors, who now might have to rethink their reported stance on not trading for Anthony Davis. Like (Brian) Windhorst said, if you want LeBron, go make a big move. The Sixers did that. And now they have everyone'sattention.”

According to the Athletic’s Tony Jones, the 76ers have 'expressed interest in acquiring free agent forward LeBron James'.

While Dean Wade is a solid addition to the 76ers (he recently signed a four-year deal with the franchise), landing James would allow Philadelphia to boast a formidable starting five of Tyrese Maxey, Brown, V.J. Edgecombe, James, and Joel Embiid while utilizing Wade as a valuable second-unit contributor.

Although the Warriors will pose a legitimate threat to the 76ers for James this summer, their inability to pry Anthony Davis from the Washington Wizards could ultimately cause their pursuit to come up short. Needless to say, it’s unclear how the James sweepstakes will play out.
