The Los Angeles Rams will try to ace the NFL draft again this year after knocking it out of the park in the last two years. It'll be tough to match the level of talent they got in 2023 and 2024, but with the 26th overall pick and eight total selections, they're positioned well this year.
As is the case in every draft, it's hard to know exactly what the Rams are planning to do. Will they take a quarterback early? Will they move up for a tight end? Will they trade back from No. 26 to get more picks?
Here are our seven bold predictions for the Rams heading into the draft, though none of them would be terribly surprising given the unpredictable nature of this special event.
Fans are going to wait three hours to see the Rams pick and Les Snead is going to bail out of the first round by trading back. It happened in 2019 when the Rams traded back multiple times before eventually taking Taylor Rapp at No. 61 overall.
Even though they already have eight total picks, you can bet Snead wants to bridge the gap between No. 26 and 90 by moving down and acquiring another top-100 pick. It might be disappointing at first, but the Rams want as many darts to throw as they can get.
This goes hand in hand with the first prediction. By trading down in the first round, they will add an extra pick or two. But that won’t be the only time they move back. They could also look to trade down from No. 127, given the absence of a fifth-round pick.
In the end, Snead will end the weekend with at least 10 selections in the draft, continuing his quest of finding diamonds in the rough on Day 3.
There are a lot of rumors connecting the Rams to quarterbacks in this year’s class, including Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe. However, they will wait to take one until Saturday, if they take one at all.
The Rams must feel good about a QB to spend any pick on him, let alone an early rounder. Using a Day 3 pick on a guy like Kyle McCord makes a lot of sense because it’ll still allow them to find an instant contributor earlier on in the draft.
Re-signing Ahkello Witherspoon helped solidify the secondary but the Rams still need long-term answers at cornerback. They don’t have a young corner they can feel good about for years to come, even though there’s a chance Cobie Durant could be that guy.
The Rams could take a cornerback early on and then again later in the draft, especially given how deep this class is at the position.
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network mocked Omarion Hampton to the Rams in his final first-round projection, sending the North Carolina running back to Los Angeles at No. 26 overall. It’s hard to believe the Rams will take a running back that early, but don’t be surprised if they draft one in the second (after a trade) or third rounds.
Sean McVay loves his running backs, taking Cam Akers in the second, Darrell Henderson Jr. in the third and Blake Corum in the third, as well. He never seems satisfied with who’s leading his backfield, so he could dip his toes into that position group again this weekend.
A cornerback would make sense, as would a right tackle or tight end. But when the Rams finally make their first pick, it’ll be a wide receiver. Pairing this projection with the idea that they’ll trade back from No. 26, the second round is a perfect spot to grab a wide receiver.
They could take Luther Burden III if he falls, Emeka Egbuka if he slips out of the first round or someone like Jayden Higgins from Iowa State.
The Rams have been searching for a young tight end for years, attempting to trade up for Dalton Kincaid and Brock Bowers in 2023 and 2024. There are starting-caliber tight ends all over the place in this class and it’s time the Rams got one for themselves.
With Tyler Higbee getting older and Colby Parkinson being a disappointment last year, this is a priority position for Los Angeles. It’s even been reported that they’ll try to trade up for one if a tight end falls close enough to them.

Here are our seven bold predictions for the Rams heading into the draft, though none of them would be terribly surprising given the unpredictable nature of this special event.
The Rams will trade out of the first round entirely
Fans are going to wait three hours to see the Rams pick and Les Snead is going to bail out of the first round by trading back. It happened in 2019 when the Rams traded back multiple times before eventually taking Taylor Rapp at No. 61 overall.
Even though they already have eight total picks, you can bet Snead wants to bridge the gap between No. 26 and 90 by moving down and acquiring another top-100 pick. It might be disappointing at first, but the Rams want as many darts to throw as they can get.
They will finish with 10-plus picks
This goes hand in hand with the first prediction. By trading down in the first round, they will add an extra pick or two. But that won’t be the only time they move back. They could also look to trade down from No. 127, given the absence of a fifth-round pick.
In the end, Snead will end the weekend with at least 10 selections in the draft, continuing his quest of finding diamonds in the rough on Day 3.
They will wait to draft a quarterback until Day 3, if they take one at all
There are a lot of rumors connecting the Rams to quarterbacks in this year’s class, including Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe.
L.A. will double-dip at cornerback
The Rams will take a running back earlier than expected ... again
Wide receiver will be the first position drafted
A cornerback would make sense, as would a right tackle or tight end. But when the Rams finally make their first pick, it’ll be a wide receiver. Pairing this projection with the idea that they’ll trade back from No. 26, the second round is a perfect spot to grab a wide receiver.
They could take Luther Burden III if he falls, Emeka Egbuka if he slips out of the first round or someone like Jayden Higgins from Iowa State.
They will finally find a legitimate starting tight end in the draft
The Rams have been searching for a young tight end for years, attempting to trade up for Dalton Kincaid and Brock Bowers in 2023 and 2024. There are starting-caliber tight ends all over the place in this class and it’s time the Rams got one for themselves.
With Tyler Higbee getting older and Colby Parkinson being a disappointment last year, this is a priority position for Los Angeles. It’s even been reported that they’ll try to trade up for one if a tight end falls close enough to them.
