We continue the countdown to the start of the Arizona Cardinals' regular season. Today, Tuesday, July 7, is 68 days away from the Arizona Cardinals' regular-season opener on Sept. 13 on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.

With 68 days until Week 1, let's look back at the 1968 season for the Cardinals.

A look back at the 1968 season for the Cardinals

The 1968 season was pretty good for the Cardinals. They went 9-4-1, losing only once in their final 10 games. However, it wasn't good enough to make the postseason.

They were fourth in scoring offense, averaging 23.2 points per game. They allowed 20.6 points per game, ranked eighth in the league.

1968 individual honors, leaders

The Cardinals had five Pro Bowlers in 1968:

  • S Larry Wilson
  • TE Jackie Smith
  • RG Ken Gray
  • LT Bob Reynolds
  • DE Don Brumm

Smith was also a second-team All-Pro, and Wilson was a first-team All-Pro.

Jim Hart started 12 of the 14 games and had 2,059 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.

Willie Crenshaw was the rushing leader with 813 yards and six touchdowns, followed by Johnny Roland's 455 rushing yards.

Smith led in catches and receiving yards with 49 for 789 and two touchdowns. Dave Williams caught 43 passes for 682 yards and six scores.

DB Chuck Latourette was the league leader in punt return yards and kick return yards.

Wilson led with four interceptions.
