LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The 50th anniversary of the Honor Roll Track and Field Championships saw personal bests from multiple athletes and teams as well as multiple meet records.
Racing started with the 4x800m relay as the boys from Lansing Catholic won with a time of 8:08.89 and the Grand Ledge girls won with a time of 9.29.86.
Hurdles followed and those in attendance saw Braden Hartsuff from Corunna win the 110m with a time of 14.56 and and Katie Blue of Grand Ledge take home the gold with a personal best of 14.97.
Channing Ridley of Dewitt won the boys 100m with a time of 10.87 while Cayla Hawkins of East Lansing won the girls 100m with a time of 12.02.
Gabriel Dixon of Lake Odessa Lakewood won the boys adaptive 100m with a time of 51.94.
In the 1600m (one mile) run, the top four boys all ran personal best but it was Reagan Ward of St. Johns, who finished with a time of 4.23.70. In the girls 1600m, the top-three finishers all ran personal best, with Lansing Catholic finishing in first and third. Grace Wonch won with a time with 4.59.09 and was the only girl who finished under five minutes.
The final race of the day was the 4x400m relay which saw Portland take home the gold on the boys side, with a time of 3.25.95 and for the girls, Lansing Catholic would earned the win, running a time of 4.00.87.
This meet served as a final tune-up for many athletes before MHSAA state finals for all divisions which will be held this weekend.
