He gonna make the rookie minimum with a pretty minimal guarantee. I don’t really see the point.
Well, the point was, I didn't know if the kid would lose money due to the injury and had not yet signed his contract. Hence the use of the two question marks.
Cardiac answered and clarified it for me.

I mean, there’s been plenty of cases where I’ve seen torn meniscus out for several weeks but why is our guy our for the year? Hmmmm
I was wondering the same thing. I've torn one and the recovery after surgery was pretty quick, even though I was pushing 60 at the time. Must be a really severe tear? Who knows.

Based on what I read...it seems these young guys are opting for repair procedures rather than just removing the torn loose piece... takes a lot longer to recover. ... dont think that option was available when I had mine done. But if I were a 23 year old professional athlete just starting my career I would choose that option too... less likely to have adverse side effects five or six years from now that could shorten the career.
I'm not real familiar with the long term effects of choosing to repair the cartilage but if it keeps them from getting arthritis in their knee by 30 that's a big win even if they dont have a long football career
