The San Francisco 49ers have some cornerbacks dealing with injuries, as Kyle Shanahan revealed that Nate Hobbs is week-to-week, and Jack Jones left Thursday night's game early with a hand injury.
With that, the 49ers hosted a trio of cornerbacks for tryouts on Friday, including Bryce Hall, Corey Mayfield Jr. and Troy Pride.
Hall, 28, played collegiately at Virginia from 2016-19, earning All-American honors once before the New York Jets took him in the fifth round (No. 158 overall) of the 2020 NFL draft. After four years in New York, he spent the last two with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 40 games over five seasons, he's recorded 122 tackles, 21 passes defensed, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and a half-sack. He also played for the Louisville Kings in the UFL this year and won the championship.
Mayfield, 26, is the son of former NFL defensive lineman Corey Mayfield, and played at UTSA from 2018-22. After signing with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent, he failed to make the roster out of camp. He then spent two seasons with the San Antonio Brahmas and one with the Louisville Kings, winning the championship alongside Hall this year.
Pride, 28, played at Notre Dame from 2016-19 before the Carolina Panthers took him in the fourth round (No. 113 overall) of the 2020 NFL draft. He's had stints with the Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts. In 17 career games, he's recorded 45 tackles and three passes defensed.
