Brock Purdy has been seeking out an extension from the San Francisco 49ers all offseason, with reports of his ask being north of $60 million annually.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero said earlier this week on The Rich Eisen Show that he fully expects Purdy to land a contract north of $50 million annually.

"What I would tell you on Purdy is they've been in negotiations, they have been in talks, they continue to move forward," Pelissero told Eisen. "Purdy is there. He is working out with the team. He chose to be around, even though there's this ongoing situation involving his contract."

"I would certainly anticipate ... This is going to be right there, in the 50s, probably, with Brock Purdy. They've made it very clear that they want Brock Purdy to be the long-term quarterback solution in San Francisco."

"They're not close," Pelissero added. "Nothing's imminent, from my understanding here. But certainly this is a deal that I would anticipate that all parties have a vested interest in getting done before we get to training camp."

Whether or not Purdy gets 50, let alone $60 million has yet to be seen, but one former NFL quarterback thinks he's worth that and then some.

Long-time backup quarterback Chase Daniel appeared on Fox Sports 1 on Thursday to share his take on Purdy.

"53 to 56 million dollars a year is a bargain for Brock Purdy," Daniel said.

Daniel spent 13 years in the NFL, playing for six franchises and appearing in 74 games, starting five. Daniels had a career completion rate of 68.1 percent, throwing for 1,746 yards and nine touchdowns. As a starter, Daniels had a 2-3 record.

Meanwhile for Purdy, the former Mr. Irrelevant has been named to a Pro Bowl and has made a Super Bowl and Conference Championship appearance. Purdy has thrown for 9,518 yards and 64 touchdowns to 27 interceptions in his three NFL seasons.

A $56 million annual salary would make Purdy the second-highest paid quarterback in the NFL, trialing Dallas Cowboys' gunslinger Dak Prescott at $60 million.

Four quarterbacks make $55 million annually: Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Jordan Love and Trevor Lawrence.
